Vapor IO recognized as Edge Computing Company of the Year by Compass
Vapor IO, developers of the Kinetic Grid platform, were recently recognized with the 2022 Edge Computing Company of the Year award by Compass Intelligence.
The award honors Vapor IO’s Kinetic Grid platform. The world’s first Open Grid network, the Kinetic Grid delivers Internet and cloud convenience while providing on-premises security and performance, the companies say. It also recognizes the company’s deployment of its Kinetic Grid in thirty-six US cities and launching its first INZONE (an Industry 4.0 Zone) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In addition, Vapor IO also has:
- Founded the Open Grid Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing new Internet capabilities through smart infrastructure.
- Announced a collaboration with VMware to support telco workloads on the Kinetic Grid by connecting with VMware’s Telco Cloud Platform.
- Established a national backbone with Zayo fiber, connecting Kinetic Grid cities through high-performance connectivity.

Since the launch of its first INZONE in Las Vegas in October of 2021, the company has seen significant progress. According to an economic study by Tolaga Research, the Kinetic Grid INZONE in Las Vegas is expected to have a total economic impact of $115.8 billion over the next decade.
