Trend Micro releases generative AI capabilities for network edge protection
Trend Micro Incorporated, an enterprise security solutions provider, has incorporated advanced language models with AI features into its Vision One cybersecurity platform. Called Companion, this new AI-powered assistant uses generative AI technology to help secure an enterprise’s perimeter where devices connect to the network edge.
Trend Micro notes the primary goal of Companion is to assist security teams in understanding and explaining complex security environments. Trend Micro’s goal is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its security operations by incorporating large language models that provide insightful information.
“Trend’s approach offers tangible benefits for security professionals by tightly integrating its products through greater consolidation, resulting in increased productivity and effectiveness of security professionals,” says Frank Dickson, group vice president of Security and Trust at IDC. “And its support for hybrid environments means that for those in the real world that still have on-premises IT environments as well as cloud deployments that they will realize the benefits of XDR whenever they are.”
Trend Micro says it enhanced its Vision One enterprise security platform by incorporating XDR capabilities. This addition enables proactive defense across various IT infrastructure components, such as endpoints, servers, email, cloud services and operational technology. With its XDR functionalities, the Vision One platform can be deployed in diverse application environments, including cloud, hybrid and on-premise setups.
In the past, security solutions worked on a perimeter-based model, assuming everything inside the organization’s network was safe. However, with more IT infrastructure attacks, a new zero-trust security model has become popular. The underlying assumption of this model is that no user or device is trustworthy by default.
The Vision One security platform by Trend Micro uses continuous attack surface discovery and real-time risk assessment to help businesses mitigate security risks, such as vulnerabilities and exposures. The company says this empowers customers to establish their security operations based on zero-trust principles.
Trend Micro recently established a new team called CTOne, which is dedicated to improving the security of 5G networks. The team aims to enhance the digital resilience and security of applications within private 5G networks.
