SUSE Edge 3.1 tackles security, lifecycle, and scalability challenges at the edge
Open and secure enterprise-grade solutions provider SUSE announced the general availability of SUSE Edge 3.1, enhancing cloud-native edge computing capabilities.
New features aim to improve operational efficiency and accelerate edge innovation for industries like retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and government.
Key challenges addressed include platform consistency, lifecycle management of edge devices, and security at the edge.
“SUSE Edge 3.1 is a flexible, cloud native, edge computing platform designed to help enterprises manage the lifecycle of edge devices at scale and realize the benefits of distributed edge deployments,” said Keith Basil, general manager of SUSE’s edge business unit. “For example, by adopting SUSE Edge 3.1 across their edge footprint, a manufacturing enterprise would benefit from improved availability and reliability for sensors and cameras at their manufacturing plants.”
SUSE Edge 3.1 supports automated deployment and management of numerous edge devices in distributed environments.
The platform offers tailored validated designs for industry-specific use cases, supporting both x86-64 and Arm64 systems. It includes best-in-class security and compliance features, enhancing risk management and governance.
The solution is built on over a decade of experience with tier-1 network equipment providers, ensuring high performance and a small footprint.
SUSE Edge 3.1 is available as of October 11, 2024, and aims to protect customer investments through industry-standard APIs.
