Sunlight.io named as ‘Cool’ edge computing problem solver by Gartner
Sunlight.io was named one of the four edge computing vendors making strides to solve the primary edge computing challenges by Gartner.
The British digital infrastructure company joined Edge Impulse, Spectro Cloud and Avassa as a ‘2022 Gartner Cool Vendor in Edge Computing’. The report by Gartner highlights four vendors “that attack the edge scale and complexity problem through management and orchestration or low code techniques.”
Sunlight’s ‘micro-cloud’ edge deployment solution consolidates legacy and bleeding edge services into a small footprint and ruggedized stack of hardware. From there, the micro clouds can be managed remotely as one distributed cloud from a central management dashboard.
Sunlight’s founder and CEO Julian Chesterfield, says, “We believe that being named a Gartner ‘Cool Vendor’ is the ultimate accolade and, with only a small number of vendors named in each category each year, we’re proud to be recognized. Due to the highly distributed and resource constrained nature of edge computing, it requires an entirely different infrastructure platform to deploy efficiently at scale – and that’s where we’ve focused our innovation. We couldn’t be happier and consider this as a stamp of recognition for our contribution to edge computing.”
The company’s hyperconverged infrastructure stack was also awarded by the AI and Machine Learning Awards as the ‘Best Cloud or Networking Automation Tool,’ and the DCS Awards 2022 as the Edge Innovation of the Year for its Lenovo SE350 edge solution powered by Sunlight.
