Sunlight.io HCI product wins “Product of the Year” at Cloud Excellence Awards 2022
At the Cloud Excellence Awards 2022, the edge infrastructure firm, Sunlight.io, won “Product of the Year” for its software-defined, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution.
Sunlight.io was recognized for building an HCI product that makes running and managing applications and infrastructure at the far edge as easy as in the cloud.
“We created the Sunlight NexVisor HCI and Infrastructure Manager to solve a real problem that we were seeing at the far edge” said Sunlight founder and CEO, Julian Chesterfield. “Leading HCI products in the market were built for the data center – where space, cooling and power resources are plenty. But this is not the case at the edge. Our customers need something efficient, reliable, secure and economical. So we built it for them. The recognition for both our product and the team’s work is fantastic.”
The Sunlight NexVisor HCI is a version of the Sunlight NexVisor Hypervisor. This is a Type 1 Hypervisor that the company created from the ground up to take advantage of today’s high-performance hardware technologies while consuming very little overhead.
The Cloud Excellence Awards are sponsored by Computing and were held live on Thursday, 22 September, in London, UK. The UK’s top cloud vendors, products and end-user firms were recognized at the 2022 Accenture, Lloyds Banking Group and Vodafone Engineering Sponsored Awards.
The cloud allows businesses to try new products, concepts and technologies. It can be a very cost-effective mechanism for creating new infrastructure and platforms and reducing management overhead from portions of the IT estate, the company says.
