StackPath expands edge computing reach with launch of additional IaaS in Paris
Edge computing platform StackPath has announced the launch of additional edge computing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in its Paris edge location, in a bid to expand its global footprint.
According to the company, the move comes in response to growing demand for low latency edge computing solutions in the European market.
With the new launch, the company’s customers will be given access to a range of capabilities. In Paris, the company says its customers can now provision general-purpose SP// Edge VMs and SP// Edge Containers boasting up to 48 vCPU cores, up to 256 GiB of RAM, and options for persistent block storage and object storage, empowering them to run even more resource-intensive workloads at the edge.
Edge Containers allow developers to deploy and run containers at the edge of the network, closer to end-users. Similar to Edge Containers, Edge VMs leverage StackPath’s global network of edge locations to bring compute resources closer to end-users and devices.
These edge compute instances are deployed on demand, connected by a global Virtual Private Network (VPN), and managed through the SP// Customer Portal or API, providing customers with control and visibility over their edge computing resources, StackPath notes.
Tom Reyes, chief product officer at StackPath expresses his enthusiasm about the expansion, stating: “We are excited to launch additional edge compute services in Paris. We have an increasing number of customers that operate in this region. We’re providing their latency-sensitive workloads and distributed applications the platform and scalability they need to enable single-digit latency for end users when milliseconds matter.”
StackPath recently introduced a limited-time promotion, offering new customers a $500 credit. This initiative aims to incentivize new users to explore the platform’s offerings, and also highlight StackPath’s goal of fostering growth within the edge computing ecosystem.
“With StackPath, customers configure once and deploy everywhere,” adds Reyes. “It is all aimed to provide businesses the bandwidth efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and improved reliability they need to deliver superior experiences to their users.”
