Sonic Edge, Deep Green partner to reduce the environmental impact of HPC operations
Sonic Edge Ltd, a leading provider of prefabricated and modular edge data centers, has announced the launch of 50 new HPC/EdgePods at locations across the UK this year. Through its partnership with Deep Green Energy, Sonic Edge can offer customers competitive UK market-leading energy pricing while reducing overall capex for HPC operations.
The HPC EdgePod data centers, ranging from 50kW to 2MW, will provide customers with low-latency access to high-performance computing resources. A vital feature of the new data centers is immersion cooling technology, which involves submerging servers in a non-conductive liquid to dissipate heat more efficiently.
This technology also significantly reduces energy consumption and costs while at the same time reducing the environmental impact of HPC operations, company executives say.
Stuart Priest, CEO of Sonic Edge Ltd, commented on the new data centers: “We are excited to announce the launch of our new HPC EdgePod data centers in partnership with Deep Green. Our HPC EdgePod data centers are designed to provide customers with high-performance computing resources at a lower cost than traditional data centers. Immersion cooling technology ensures that our data centers are highly efficient and environmentally friendly.”
Launching Sonic Edge’s HPC EdgePod data centers is a significant boon for the UK’s HPC industry, providing increased access to high-performance computing resources with significantly reduced environmental impact. Customers will benefit from lower power costs and greater operational efficiency, ensuring the best possible outcomes from their HPC operations.
In 2021, Sonic Edge partnered with Submer, a provider of immersion cooling solutions, to create the 100kW immersion-cooled EdgePod.
The Sonic Immersion Pod is a device that allows customers to perform complex HPC workloads at either Edge or On-Premise locations. It is delivered fully commissioned and can be operational within a few hours.
