Scale Computing makes its mark in 2023 Gartner Hype Cycle for Edge Computing
Scale Computing, an edge computing and hyperconverged solution provider, has been recognized as an Edge Management and Orchestration (EMO) vendor in the 2023 Gartner Hype Cycle for Edge Computing.
“We’re honored to be recognized as a Sample Vendor in the fast-growing Edge Management and Orchestration space and are poised to help even more organizations scale as the edge computing industry grows and evolves,” says Jeff Ready, the CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing.
According to the Gartner report, EMO solutions provide edge infrastructure software, software stack, application management and security for remote or distributed deployments. These solutions also eliminate the requirement for on-location IT staff.
EMO solutions empower organizations to tackle critical challenges in adopting edge computing. Gartner notes that by offering zero-touch deployments, updates and remote management of distributed nodes, EMO enables flexible computing capabilities in previously unexplored areas.
“In today’s digital landscape, organizations of every size, across all industries, are increasingly adopting edge computing and its promise to bring applications closer to the people and things interacting with them,” states Ready.
He adds that Scale Computing fulfills this promise by allowing enterprises to deploy applications wherever needed without compromising usability, scalability, availability or reliability.
According to Ready, there is a growing demand among IT leaders for real-time response in critical applications and deployment solutions that rely on something other than on-site IT staff. He further elaborates on how Scale Computing’s Platform empowers the efficient deployment of edge computing infrastructure with self-healing capabilities.
Scale Computing claims to simplify and scale infrastructure, empowering enterprises to run applications and process data at the edge of their networks.
The company’s SC/Fleet Manager is a cloud-hosted monitoring and management tool for hyper-converged edge computing infrastructure at scale. It offers a single pane of glass to identify areas of concern quickly and can scale from 1 to over 50,000 clusters. With zero-touch provisioning, administrators can centrally monitor and manage distributed edge infrastructure deployments with limited or no on-site IT personnel, the company notes.
According to Gartner, its Hype Cycles provide visual insights on technology maturity and adoption, helping business leaders understand the evolution. These reports assess risk tolerance and uncover the value of emerging technologies, aiding informed investment decisions.
The latest Gartner Hype Cycle evaluated 31 emerging technologies, prioritizing edge computing innovations based on immediate impact and maturity.
Gartner believes organizations will adopt EMO solutions widely within two to five years.
Scale Computing made the news this summer by announcing that its SC//Platform product is now available on the Lenovo M90Q and Simply NUC Topaz as part of its HE100 series. The company says the platform offers simplicity and high performance for edge computing. It can also be obtained pre-integrated from Simply NUC’s website.
