Radtonics boosts position in European private 5G market with Code Adders acquisition

Radtonics, a Swedish edge computing and 5G private wireless provider, acquired Code Adder to fold in its modular telecom platform as part of its ambitions to take a spot in the increasingly deregulated European 5G private wireless market.

“I’m very excited to announce this acquisition, which complements Radtonics’ offering excellently. Code Adders technology, along with its founders Håkan [Saltin] and Dan [Lawesson], will be instrumental in building the leading global platform for the fast-growing 5G private wireless networks”, says Patric Lind, CEO of Radtonics.

The acquisition merges the modular and extensible telecom platform named Adder into Radtonics’ 5G private wireless offering. Adder is said to allow scalability, availability, and support for extensive monitoring, compatibility with modern means of deployment, continuous integration, and development for 5G for business.

Radtonics notes that the private wireless market is taking off due to a trend of deregulation of 5G frequencies globally which will allow for private wireless networks to be built. With this business environment, it aims to become a challenger in the 5G market dominated by local telecom giants Ericsson and Nokia.

A similar step was taken in a partnership between Verizon and Atos to build out private 5G deployments like edge computing for enterprises in Europe.

Saltin, a founder of CLX Communications (now Sinch) and Symsoft, will take on the chief technology officer role at Radtonics, while Lawesson will be the new vice president of engineering at the company.

Commenting on his new role, Saltin says, “Having extensive experience in the telecom industry, I can conclude that there is a huge opportunity to challenge the norm and establish new business models that meet the demands of the next million networks.”
