Qualcomm and IBM expand AI from edge to cloud with governance focus

Qualcomm and IBM announced an expanded collaboration to deliver enterprise-grade generative AI solutions across edge and cloud devices, focusing on immediacy, privacy, reliability, and energy efficiency.
IBM’s watsonx.governance will be integrated into Qualcomm’s AI Inference Suite, enabling responsible AI management at scale.
IBM’s Granite 3.1 models have been optimized for Qualcomm platforms, allowing developers to leverage AI capabilities at the edge via the Qualcomm AI Hub.
Qualcomm’s Cloud AI accelerators are now certified for Red Hat OpenShift, supporting hybrid cloud deployments of IBM’s AI software, including watsonx.
The collaboration combines Qualcomm’s low-power, high-performance platforms with IBM’s governance and AI models to enhance security, efficiency, and reliability for businesses.

Qualcomm and IBM aim to provide end-to-end generative AI solutions with guardrails for monitoring, decision-making, and deployment control.
Snapdragon and Qualcomm Dragonwing platforms will support IBM’s Granite models, enabling advanced AI applications on edge devices.
This partnership marks a significant step toward enabling businesses to leverage AI-powered insights and automation closer to data sources, reinforcing edge computing’s role in next-generation AI applications.
