Pulsant launches platformEDGE to help drive digital transformation across the UK
Pulsant recently unveiled PlatformEdge, a new edge computing platform that the company says will provide regional businesses in the UK with the tools to embrace digital transformation and unlock growth potential.
“There are just over half a million software developers in the UK,” says Simon Michie, the CTO of Pulsant. “PlatformEdge will dissolve the infrastructure constraints they face and unleash regional innovation for local businesses, governments, service providers and suppliers in a way that can’t be achieved today.”
A UK-wide infrastructure, Pulsant claims to offer scalable, high-performance computing services to businesses for applications such as video analytics, IoT, VR gaming, autonomous vehicles and remote monitoring.
PlatformEdge offers a regional data center network with low latency connectivity and distributed compute and storage platforms for edge workloads and hyperscale cloud integrations. It has twelve secure data centers connected by 100Gbps Zayo fiber with a latency of 10ms or less. It uses Megaport’s SDN platform to optimize performance.
Pulsant notes that edge computing is critical for regional businesses, smart cities and their associated populations to remain economically viable as data grows exponentially. The company adds that it simplifies the journey, accelerates time to value, and enables future growth opportunities.
Mike Jauncey, the UK channel director of Megaport, adds, “With an exponential increase in data generation, latency-sensitive applications, connected devices, and remote users, modern businesses are required to meet some strenuous digital standards in their given markets – particularly in regions where connectivity isn’t as accessible.”
In March 2022, Pulsant acquired Amito, a Reading-based data center and cloud services provider. It followed its acquisition of a Manchester data center from M247 Limited in the previous month.
