Orbbec’s Gemini 2 XL redefines robotic vision at CES 2024
Orbbec, a 3D vision system provider, recently announced the debut of the Gemini 2 XL at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Designed for robots, AI-based surveillance and interaction systems, the company says this long-range 3D camera provides reliable data in diverse lighting conditions.
The company says the device provides essential data for advanced AI-driven recognition and tracking applications. It excels in detecting small objects and performs well in high-reflectivity environments. Deep learning algorithms generate accurate phase maps and overcome challenges faced by traditional methods.
David Chen, the co-founder and head of products at Orbbec, emphasizes the ongoing enhancement of the camera’s capabilities.
“As Orbbec’s learning library continues to expand, the camera’s capabilities will continue to improve, broadening its applicability in robotics and AI-based vision solutions,” Chen states.
Orbbec’s AI algorithms work in various lighting conditions, including under direct sunlight and challenging outdoor environments. Unlike conventional algorithms, Orbbec’s algorithms deliver accurate depth calculations and eliminate missing depth areas, offering a solid and complete phase map output.
The company says the Gemini 2 XL is a cost-efficient, high-accuracy camera that breaks through the limitations of expensive alternatives and eliminates the need for costly external computing power.
Orbbec says it additionally provides custom ODM services for intelligent robots for reliable and affordable depth perception.
The Gemini 2 XL, when paired with Nvidia, improves image processing for enhanced depth frame rate, accuracy and scene versatility. This deep learning pipeline and camera calibration service are part of Orbbec’s ODM package, the company states.
Orbbec’s ODM services allow customers to customize and retrain AI models using their data sets, improving performance in specific application environments.
The Gemini 2 XL will be showcased at Orbbec’s CES booth at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC), North Hall, booth number 9745.
