NS1 unveils its new DNS observability solution, DNS Insights
NS1, a DNS solutions provider, has announced the launch of DNS Insights. It is a comprehensive DNS observability solution for troubleshooting misconfigurations and other network errors. DNS Insights uses its in-house tool, Orb, an open-source DNS data analysis tool to detect and prevent DDoS attacks. The company has made the observability solution available to all customers using its Managed DNS and Dedicated DNS networks.
NS1 created Orb to increase transparency in complex and distributed systems. It can analyze network traffic and run synthetic network probes. It sets itself apart from other options by analyzing DNS data close to the traffic source and allowing for real-time dynamic configuration of remote agents. It uses a unique method that minimizes operational overhead to gather specific data at the edge.
“Modern networks need to provide flawless and secure connected interactions to billions of users and tens of billions of devices,” said Shannon Weyrick, vice president of research at NS1. “To do this, it is essential that networking professionals have the ability to observe and dynamically adjust for constantly changing conditions.”
Observing and monitoring DNS activity is essential for the proper functioning of edge computing applications. With the ability to gain visibility into performance at the network’s edge, users can observe and analyze DNS traffic while troubleshooting and resolving configuration errors. In turn, edge networks can be reliably and efficiently managed, the company says.
NS1’s DNS Insights enables users to access a variety of pre-constructed dashboards that showcase the data analysis performed by the observability tool. It gathers data from the DNS infrastructure and focuses on actionable details to understand overall traffic patterns and identify anomalous behavior.
“DNS Insights makes it easier for network teams to troubleshoot misconfigurations, detect DDoS attacks, and identify potential areas of optimization,” Weyrick concluded.
In the past year, NS1 became a member of the Intel Network Builders program. This affiliation gave them access to Intel technology and virtual labs to accelerate product innovation and development. Additionally, the company appointed several new members to its executive teams across the engineering, product management and business development fields.
