nLighten expands into the Dutch market with the acquisition of Gyro Center

nLighten, a digital infrastructure and edge data center development company, recently revealed its acquisition of Gyro Center, a data center situated in Amsterdam. The company plans to increase their presence in key economic centers throughout Europe.

nLighten notes it has recognized the significance of the Netherlands’ data center market within Europe, and the acquisition positions them to capitalize on the benefits of a robust power supply, well-established infrastructure, and an advantageous location. In nLighten’s perspective, Amsterdam stands out as a key hub for data centers and internet connectivity, on par with cities like London, Paris, and Frankfurt.

“We continue to work full steam ahead towards building the leading edge data center platform in Europe,” says Harro Beusker, co-founder and chief executive officer of nLighten.

“After Germany, France and the UK, we are now expanding to the Netherlands and covering another important and attractive business location.”

The Gyro Center is a carrier-neutral data center, enabling multiple telecommunications carriers to connect their networks and provide services to customers. The data center facility relies on renewable energy sources, in a bid to align with the sustainability goals of corporate infrastructure.

In addition to the energy source, another focus for making any data center environmentally friendly has been the cooling system. The company notes that the Gyro Center uses an advanced cooling system to maintain operating conditions for its equipment, a feature the company highlights for its role in efficient energy usage. The cooling system not only contributes to energy conservation but also enables the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and practices.

Earlier this year, nLighten expanded its presence in the UK through the acquisition of Proximity Data Centers. Some of these data centers already source their electricity from renewable sources, and nLighten says it plans to continue and expand this green initiative, regardless of operational capacity.
