New CDNetworks platform brings business applications and serverless management to the edge
Sinagpore-based CDNetworks announced its new edge computing product last week, Edge Application.
The Edge Application platform deploys business applications directly at the edge networks, enabling agility and efficiency with things like origin off-loading, web performance optimization, access control, content management, data analysis and more.
The platform also comprises of Edge Cloud Apps and Edge KV Storage, offering customizable and flexible edge application deployment, allowing businesses to realize the potential of edge computing through serverless management at the edge.
“Our groundbreaking Edge Application platform will transform how businesses manage their online services,” said Antony Li, APAC Head of Sales at CDNetworks, “By providing a flexible, auto-scaling, and easy-to-deploy Edge solution, we give customers the power to unleash the agility and efficiency they need to stay competitive.”
CDNetworks offers more than 2,800 global PoPs, with products and services such as web performance, media delivery, cloud security, and colocation services. In May, the company unveiled 10 Tbps capacity upgrade for enhanced south and southeast Asia network performance.
Analyst Insight by Structure Research: CDNetworks is taking an approach to edge computing that is similar to Cloudflare, which also leverages V8 Isolates for its Workers platform. Competing edge computing services have been on the market for a while already. Cloudflare’s Workers was launched in 2017, for example. While CDNetworks is not on the bleeding edge of the market, its slow and steady approach has enabled it to survive even as companies like Lumen and StackPath have exited the CDN and edge computing market.
