Nearby Computing closes €6.5M for global expansion

Nearby Computing, a platform for edge computing orchestration and automation based in Barcelona, announced a €6.5 million Series A funding round.

The investment was led by Pan European VC Walter Ventures and South-Europe based VC JME Ventures. New shareholders include Telefónica’s corporate venture capital arm Wayra, and Akamai and previous investors such as Cellnex and Lenovo have executed follow-on investments.

Nearby Computing states the funding will fuel expansion into key markets, allowing it to boost its sales force and further establish its leadership in strategic, global regions including North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.

Josep Marti, CEO at Nearby Computing said the company’s objective is to enable more enterprises and service providers with advanced edge computing and SW automation solutions, providing them with access to a complete solution for their entire network ecosystem.

Last month ICT firm Italtel announced a strategic partnership with Nearby Computing to accelerate the adoption of 5G solutions, private networks, and edge computing.
