LG and Ambarella team up to drive AI-powered in-cabin vehicle safety innovation
LG Electronics and Ambarella, an edge AI semiconductor company, have partnered to develop advanced AI-driven in-cabin vehicle safety solutions.
The collaboration will showcase a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) at CES 2025, integrating Ambarella’s CV25 AI system-on-chip.
The DMS is already in production with a global automotive OEM, enhancing vehicle safety through real-time analysis of in-vehicle camera data.
“The combination of LG’s highly accurate and reliable in-cabin solutions with the industry-leading AI performance per watt of our CVflow SoCs is enabling automotive OEMs to achieve the highest vehicle safety levels,” says Fermi Wang, President and CEO of Ambarella. “Our CV25 SoC combines high performance for processing LG’s AI perception stack, along with great efficiency for low power consumption and reduced thermal management, resulting in compact, flexible form factors for vehicle interiors.”
Ambarella’s CV25 chipset offers high performance, low power consumption, and efficient processing for accurate driver monitoring. The system can detect driver distractions or drowsiness by analyzing subtle eye and head movements, regardless of the driver’s appearance.
LG’s DMS is designed for flexibility, allowing integration with various software and hardware configurations for automotive OEMs.
Both companies aim to meet New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and General Safety Regulation (GSR) standards through their solutions.
LG is committed to expanding its partnership with Ambarella to enhance the performance of in-cabin solutions and improve overall vehicle safety.
Almost a year ago, Ambarella debuted a new edge AI platform at CES 2024.
