Lanner unveils rugged 5G edge server with Intel Xeon 6 for AI RAN, MEC

Lanner Electronics, a company specializing in advanced network appliances and rugged applied computing platforms, has launched the ECA-5555, a compact edge server powered by Intel Xeon 6 SoC, designed for AI-accelerated 5G RAN and Multi-access edge computing (MEC) applications. 

The server offers up to 2.4x capacity gain and 3.2x AI RAN performance per core compared to previous platforms, with integrated Intel AMX, AVX, and vRAN Boost technologies. 

It supports high-speed connectivity with two 100Gbps QSFP28 ports and eight 25Gbps SFP28 ports, ensuring optimal performance for virtualized RAN and AI workloads. 

The ECA-5555 is optimized for MEC applications like cloud gaming and media streaming, featuring PCIe Gen5 slots for GPUs and NICs, as well as Intel QAT and media accelerators. 

The server is designed for rugged environments, operating reliably in temperatures ranging from -40 to 55ºC.

Lanner highlights its collaboration with Intel to advance AI-accelerated RAN and MEC technologies, emphasizing the ECA-5555’s scalability and energy efficiency. The ECA-5555 will be available in Q2 2025.
