Kyndryl and Nearby Computing partner to deliver advanced edge computing services

Kyndryl, a technology services firm, and Nearby Computing, a provider of edge computing orchestration and automation platforms, have announced a new partnership to deliver integrated edge computing services for their clients.

The collaboration includes the establishment of an edge computing laboratory focused on Nearby Computing’s edge-to-cloud orchestration and automation platform, NearbyOne. According to both companies, Kyndryl will oversee the platform as a service (PaaS), with the aim of simplifying the deployment of business applications at the edge for clients.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kyndryl, a company that shares our vision for the future of industry,” says Josep Martí, CEO of Nearby Computing.

“Together, we are set to redefine the landscape of edge computing and 5G, empowering businesses to harness the full potential of these transformative technologies.”

According to a 2023 Gartner report, edge management and orchestration solutions are expected to be adopted by 20 percent of large enterprises by 2027, a rise from less than 1 percent in 2023. The companies both note that NearbyOne’s architecture, which adheres to GSMA operator platform v6.0 requirements, supports integration with various applications.

The integration will use Kyndryl’s knowledge in managing and integrating critical infrastructure to develop a diverse portfolio of pre-integrated applications tailored to different industries. These applications will be ready for activation, offering features like deployment, application automation control, continuous KPI monitoring, and lifecycle management, according to Nearby Computing.

“We continue to join forces with key IT providers whose technologies are essential to our customers’ innovation’. The agreement with Nearby Computing allows us to add pioneering capabilities in an area with such potential as edge computing,” adds Noel Bravo, director of alliances and cloud at Kyndryl Spain.

Additionally, both companies believe that edge computing will become a major area of focus and growth in the near future.

Elsewhere, Nearby Computing recently announced a strategic collaboration, with the aim of streamlining and automating Alea’s lifecycle applications through NearbyOne.
