Honeywell acquires SCADAFence to bolster OT cyber security offering
Honeywell has agreed to acquire SCADAfence, an OT and IoT cybersecurity solutions provider.
The company says that SCADAfence’s capabilities in asset discovery, threat detection and compliance management will be integrated into Honeywell Forge Cybersecurity+, further strengthening the company’s portfolio of cybersecurity software solutions.
The OT cybersecurity industry is predicted to expand quickly in the near future. Unplanned downtime caused by cyberattacks on OT systems could result in more than a trillion dollars in lost revenue for industrial and critical infrastructure sectors.
According to Kevin Dehoff, the president and chief executive officer of Honeywell Connected Enterprise, the importance of protecting operational systems such as process control equipment in manufacturing plants cannot be overstated, as any breach of the OT environment could lead to safety and business continuity issues.
“Adding SCADAfence’s product portfolio will strengthen our capabilities and help our customers defend themselves against cyber security risks which are progressively increasing,” continues Dehoff.
The company further says this integration will provide an end-to-end enterprise OT cybersecurity solution for site managers, operations management and CISOs.
Elad Ben Meir, the chief executive officer at SCADAfence, states that Honeywell’s customer base will now have access to advanced OT security technology through the acquisition.
“We remain committed to proactively serving and supporting our customers across all verticals and geographies where we currently operate,” he adds.
