Federated Wireless named as partner for decentralized 5G private wireless service by CalChip Connect

US-based IoT distributor, CalChip Connect, has formed a strategic partnership with Federated Wireless to deliver private 5G networks for enterprise customers.  Unlike typical private 5G services, however, with this arrangement enterprises can follow the consumer market and earn cryptocurrency from their networks.

The collaboration provides private wireless solutions for enterprises by leveraging CBRS shared spectrum, decentralized wireless services and hardware provided by FreedomFi certified vendors. Customers have direct ownership of the network, meaning they can mine the Helium cryptocurrency and also have the ability to build and share their own decentralized 5G networks to generate revenue.

The partnership will provide an end-to-end service to implement a decentralized 5G network solution that can be get up and running in as less as 20 minutes. CalChip Connect claims to bring an “industry-first decentralized 5G network solution” to the market to accelerate the way IoT industry employs private wireless networks.

“This partnership is about combining the potential of 5G with thousands of private wireless entrepreneurs and making it easy, cost-effective and accessible for as many people to connect as possible,” said TJ Rancour, President and Co-Founder of CalChip Connect.

Federated’s technology contribution to the partnership is its Wireless Spectrum Access System that monitors the CBRS spectrum through the United States for delivery high speed, low latency spectrum for industrial automation.

As part of the collaboration, Federated Wireless has completed the deployment of a private wireless network to support CalChip Connect’s global IoT distribution center in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This deployment will serve as a reference model for enterprise customers to design and deploy smart warehouse solutions with private wireless connectivity for specific application requirements.

“Innovation and democratization of spectrum are at the core of our business,” said Iyad Tarazi, CEO at Federated Wireless. “CalChip and FreedomFi are extending this same philosophy to an even broader set of consumers and industry change agents. We are happy to support their efforts in CBRS, spectrum sharing, and this next generation of wireless network innovation.”
