EdgeUno expands edge data center business with New Access acquisition in Ecuador
EdgeUno, a provider of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in Latin America and emerging markets, plans to acquire New Access, S.A, a provider of cybersecurity and private cloud managed services for the enterprise market in Ecuador. New Access also owns and operates two data centers in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador.
EdgeUno said the acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2022, subject to normal regulatory approvals. The price of the acquisition was not disclosed.
“New Access has invested in developing long-term relationships with customers in Ecuador for almost 20 years,” says Paul Harris, executive president of New Access. “This transaction represents an opportunity to expand our managed service portfolio to the region and beyond thanks to EdgeUno´s leadership, resources, and expansion capacity.”
EdgeUno has completed four acquisitions to date. Aside from M&A activity, EdgeUno has also been adding to its executive team in 2022, having appointed industry veteran, Andy Bax, as its COO in March
Analysis
EdgeUno is a relatively new provider that is building a network of edge data centers across the LatAm region. It provides colocation and bare metal for edge deployments and also provides cloud and managed services. EdgeUno is looking to combine greenfield data center builds and M&A to bulk up its portfolio. New Access, meanwhile, is the kind of provider that is available in various LatAm markets but has not been aggressively pursued given the lower levels of consolidation in the region.
