EdgeConneX enhances Phoenix cloud connectivity with AWS Direct Connect
EdgeConneX announced the deployment of AWS Direct Connect in its Phoenix Edge Data Center (PHX01). This marks a significant expansion to existing cloud connectivity and on-ramps in the area to ensure data-intensive workloads are delivered with a higher quality of service.
Phillip Marangella, the chief marketing and product officer at EdgeConneX, comments on the deployment: “EdgeConneX is working with AWS to offer customers in Phoenix expanded workload transport options and improved scalability and reliability.”
EdgeConneX is part of the Amazon Web Services Partner Network and customers can access direct edge cloud on-ramps through AWS Direct Connect with reduced costs and improved operations.
It enables companies to establish secure point-to-point connections between their internal networks and the larger cloud environment. The added flexibility of this service benefits data-heavy applications such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality.
Michael Reid, CEO of Megaport, asserts that customers with mission-critical applications need reliable and fast infrastructure to ensure optimal performance. By using AWS Direct Connect at the EdgeConneX Phoenix data center, customers can experience low latency connections to cloud services.
“With AWS Direct Connect in the EdgeConneX Phoenix data center, customers can create virtual interfaces directly to AWS and access services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), allowing for increased security and consistent network experiences,” adds Emad Benjamin, the general manager of AWS Direct Connect at AWS.
