Edge computing demand drivers explored at Structure Research’s infra/STRUCTURE summit
Independent research and consulting firm Structure Research will hold its annual infra/STRUCTURE summit in Toronto, with an agenda that is set to dissect the edge computing sector from future-proofing the network edge to analyzing HPC and AI demand for infrastructure services.
With kick off scheduled for October 4-5, 2023 at the Shangri-La Toronto, Structure’s edge and hyperscale section of the event agenda will include a wide range of speakers from TierPoint, Nokia, DigitalBridge, OCOLO, Digital Realty, Telehouse, EdgeConneX and more.
The two day summit will take a look at the surging HPC and AI demand, and identify some of the products at the core and edge that are serving these demands. It aims to also unveil the possibilities of protecting investment by building edge networks.
Speaking about the event to EdgeIR, Philbert Shih, managing director of Structure Research, says: “I think what is going to be interesting about the edge track at infra / STRUCTURE this year is how it overlaps and is part of a number of wider discussions around hyperscale cloud and HPC. In the past, we have focused on the building blocks of edge computing, but this year there will be more discussion around the demand profile, which is being pushed by the rise of AI and next-generation workloads.
“Network connectivity is going to be at the center of the discussion as well. One of our platinum sponsors, Nokia, is going to be talking about building the network edge, and there are a few panels that touch on the strategic activity and operating challenges facing carrier hotels. The fact that edge is permeating multiple topics really speaks to where edge has come in a very short time.”
Some of the other event tracks for day one of the summit include data center and interconnection, as well as cloud, MSP. Day two will look into hyperscale, AI and mergers and acquisitions in the space, according to the event agenda.
Structure Research recently released its white paper titled, “The Cloud Infrastructure Ecosystem”, exploring hyperscale public clouds’ impact on the infrastructure services market and the opportunities for vendors.
