Dell, Unified National Networks collaborate to transform Brunei’s telecom infrastructure
Dell Technologies recently announced its collaboration with Unified National Networks (UNN), an integrated national telecommunication network operator, to drive Brunei’s Smart Nation strategy by modernizing UNN’s three data centers.
Unified National Networks (UNN) provides fixed and mobile services on a national level in Brunei. The company was established in 2018 and looked to consolidate all its assets into one network by investing in modern technology, data centers, cyber security, knowledge and capacity building.
UNN’s data centers are currently configured with a hyperconverged, active-active architecture for both production and disaster recovery operations. By teaming up with Dell, the companies say that UNN can now effectively build future strategies to introduce advanced IoT, AI and 5G-enabled services.
To fulfill the same, Dell Technologies deployed its portfolio of solutions, including VxRail, PowerEdge, PowerVault storage arrays, Unity XT and PowerProtect DD Series Appliances. This has enabled UNN to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of its data centers and invest more in speeding up next-gen IaaS solution development.
“To fuel Brunei’s telecom transformation, UNN wanted a trusted technology partner to modernize its three data centers, where separate compute, storage and networking made it difficult for IT to run efficiently,” said Daniele Cuocci, the senior vice president, data center and IT at UNN. “With Dell Technologies as our transformation partner, we are now able to deliver better and more secure virtual infrastructure to our customers.”
UNN is also collaborating with Dell to implement additional cyber security services and enhance its cloud program. This collaboration with UNN will also introduce software-defined networking through VMware NSX to support developing UNN’s next-generation services.
“Dell Technologies is excited to be working with UNN to drive Brunei’s Smart Nation strategy and help bring economic and social progress to its citizens and businesses,” explained Anothai Wettayakorn, the vice president of Dell Technologies, Asia Emerging Markets and South Asia CSB. “Our expertise in telecom solutions and in-depth knowledge of the communication service provider market, along with the strength of our portfolio, helped us deliver the desired business outcomes for UNN.”
In October of 2022, Dell Technologies announced the expansion of its end-to-end edge portfolio with Project Frontier, an edge operations software platform. The platform was designed to securely scale edge applications and infrastructure to support software applications, IoT frameworks, multi-cloud environments and future advancements.
