Cologix expands AWS direct connect footprint at its edge data center in Canada
Cologix, a data center company in North America, has announced the availability of a new connection point to Amazon Web Services (AWS) at its VAN3 digital edge data center located in Vancouver, Canada.
This marks the second such connection point at Cologix data centers in the Vancouver area, underlining the company’s ongoing partnership with AWS and its dedication to improving connectivity options for businesses in Canada.
Sean Maskell, President and general manager of Cologix Canada, emphasized the significance of VAN3 as an optimal location for businesses seeking to bolster their connections to AWS.
“This expansion further solidifies our commitment to supporting the growth trends of digital migration to the cloud, 5G networks and high-density compute needs of AI and ML applications and data, offering secure and high-performance connections to AWS services,” says Maskell.
AWS Direct Connect enables companies to establish a private network link between their colocation data centers and AWS, offering a more reliable network experience compared to connections over the public internet, according to the company.
The new AWS Direct Connect location at VAN3 provides dedicated connections at speeds of 10 Gbps and 100 Gbps, with the added security measure of MACsec encryption. This connection enables businesses to access AWS Regions, AWS GovCloud Regions, and AWS Local Zones directly and privately.
Cologix’s Vancouver data centers, including VAN3, are ISO 27001 certified and compliant with HIPAA, SOC1, SOC2 and PCI standards. Currently, Cologix has 20 different networks available and direct access to the Vancouver Internet Exchange (VANIX), along with connections to major cloud providers like AWS.
Through the Cologix Access Marketplace, the company claims that its customers can gain access to Cologix’s digital Meet-Me-Room (MMR), facilitating connections to local and regional service providers as well as major cloud services like AWS Direct Connect. The combination of low latency, self-service, and on-demand virtual connections aims to help organizations fully leverage their data and applications.
