Cirion, Qwilt unite to transform CDN services in Latin America

Cirion Technologies and Qwilt partner to enhance the content delivery network (CDN) in Latin America, offering improved live streaming and media delivery to over 600 million consumers in the region.

According to Alejandro Girardotti, the senior director of products, innovation and strategic alliances at Cirion Technologies, the demand for data consumption and internet traffic is rapidly increasing in Latin America.

“With this agreement, Cirion and Qwilt’s combined CDN offerings are strengthened, meeting the needs of CDN customers,” he says.

Girardotti further states that Cirion’s infrastructure can adjust and respond to market demands in real-time. This allows for efficient management of critical applications and data, enabling companies to anticipate market trends, he adds.

The companies say Cirion’s content delivery network ensures reliable content delivery to users across Latin America. With Qwilt’s Open Caching technology, this partnership allows Cirion to rapidly scale up and become one of the largest low-latency CDN service providers in the region. It greatly enhances Cirion’s ability to deliver high-quality live and VoD streaming, catering to the growing market demand.

Cirion operates terrestrial and submarine fiber optic networks, spanning over 50,000km and 36,000km respectively. With 18 landing stations, the company says its scalable networks can accommodate the growing number of connected users while maintaining high-quality user experience.

Alon Maor, CEO of Qwilt, also emphazies the importance of Cirion’s network infrastructure and CDN services in the end-to-end value chain, which aligns with Qwilt’s all-edge architecture and its new economic model for streaming delivery.

“This announcement underscores the momentum we are gathering as we realize our ambition to build the world’s highest performing edge delivery network,” Maor notes.

Last year, Qwilt collaborated with Telefónica to implement a content delivery system in Spain, combining their technologies. By integrating their respective CDNs and leveraging open APIs, they aim to create an efficient content delivery network. This collaboration enhances Qwilt’s coverage and delivery capacity in Spain through Telefónica’s Content Distribution Network (TCDN), benefiting third-party content delivery.
