Alphawave Semi, ProteanTecs team up for next-gen chip analytics

ProteanTecs has partnered with Alphawave Semi to enhance its custom silicon and chipset-enabled SoCs with advanced lifecycle health and performance monitoring.

Mohit Gupta, the SVP and GM of custom silicon and IP at Alphawave Semi, emphasizes the increasing importance of data-driven insights and analytics in developing and maintaining complex chiplets and silicon SoCs.

“Our collaboration with ProteanTecs offers us a differentiated edge and enables us to bring our customer’s complex solutions to market at higher performance, at a faster pace,” says Gupta. “Mutual customers gain on-chip monitoring through the entire product lifecycle, extending all the way from production into the field.”

The collaboration will integrate on-chip Agents into Alphawave Semi’s custom silicon solutions. These Agents provide deep data generation for ProteanTecs’ software solutions, enabling performance, power, and reliability monitoring throughout the chip’s lifetime. This collaboration aims to enhance connectivity, compute capabilities and packaging in nodes down to 3nm.

Sanjay Lall, the EVP of worldwide sales at ProteanTecs, explains that Alphawave Semi excels in multiple domains, such as AI, hyperscale data centers, storage, data networking and high-performance computing.

“We welcome Alphawave Semi as a valued strategic partner and look forward to collaborating and supporting joint customers in accelerating their time to market and leveraging the numerous benefits of lifetime visibility,” Lall adds.

Alphawave Semi offers a vertically integrated approach and provides customers with IP, custom silicon, and connectivity products worldwide. Founded in 2017, its mission is to accelerate the data infrastructure that powers our digital world.

Meanwhile, ProteanTecs provides deep data analytics for electronics monitoring. Its clients span various industries, including data centers, automotive, communications and mobile markets. With headquarters in Israel and offices in the United States, India, South Korea, and Taiwan, ProteanTecs uses  machine learning and on-chip monitors to offer system health and performance monitoring, the company notes.

In 2022, ProteanTecs raised $45 million to expand its application engineering team and bring its chip telemetry technology to the global market. Koch Disruptive Technologies led the financing round, which also included MediaTek, Advantest and Porsche SE.

ProteanTecs’ Universal Chip Telemetry enables optimization and predictive monitoring of chips throughout their lifecycle. In edge computing environments like cars, where reliability and security are crucial, this technology ensures stability even under harsh conditions, the company says.
